London - From Willesden Green to Queen's Park
From Willesden Green to Queen's Park!
So on Monday (11th June, Queen's Birthday Holiday in Australia) Steve and I moved from our temporary (but lovely) accommodation in Willesden Green to Queen's Park. Thank god we were only moving across to the next suburb and not across town!
In our last potential flat hunting blog, I described the pain of looking for somewhere to live without a car. We threw our hands up in the air and phoned London Accommodation (whom we got our room in Willesden through) to help us find somewhere to settle into for the next few months. On the day we moved from Willesden Green to Queen's Park we COULD have asked them to give us a lift across, this we were told would incur a fee of £20. So on the Monday, we took it upon ourselves to relocate independently! Not the brightest idea we ever had because in order to get to Queen's Park we had to tube it from Willesden Green to Baker St on the Jubilee Line and then change onto the Bakerloo line and head back up north to Queen's Park. Just to give you an idea of how ridiculous this was, I'll include a link to a tube map of London.

This MINI - ADVENTURE required us to walk a couple blocks to the Willesden Green tube station, down a flight of stairs at the station (Steve went into Mr Muscles mode and one at a time carried our suitcases) and jumped on the train. At Baker St, up a flight of stairs and then down another flight to get on the next train to Queen's Park. When we arrived at Queen's Park station it was up and flight of stairs to the street and then a walk of approximately two blocks to our new apartment. We had to wait a while at the apartment for our keys to arrive (during which a lovely lady from next door offered us both a cup of coffee, and we politely declined). After a bit of fumbling around, it was realised a new set of keys needed to be cut so myself and the property girl drove to Willesden Green to get them cut. We found it odd that they offered to get the keys cut (and drive across) free of charge, yet if we had asked them to move us we would have been charged the £20 fee to do so. *chuckles* Weird....
After a hectic morning, Steve and I went out for a walk to explore our new neighbourhood. Lucky for him (not) he listened to a confident Ella (me) who said "She was absolutely sure the Sainsbury's Supermarket was in the direction we were walking." Turns out we were actually walking back to Willesden Green (and there is DEFINITELY a Sainbury's there), so I was half right but not the one we intended on reaching in Kilburn. We should have actually continued in that direction, it would have saved us a LOT of time and a LOT of energy. Instead, we turned around and headed towards Kilburn. We were pretty exhausted by the time our tired feet found their way home again... ;o) Of course no blame was laid on our particularly long excursion.. but we all know who was responsible.. *looks all innocent*.. *Ho-Hum*
